Plot

Dasvi follows the story of Ganga Ram Chaudhary (Abhishek Bachchan), a brash, uneducated Chief Minister who is sent to jail due to a corruption scandal. In prison, he meets Jyoti Deswal (Yami Gautam), a strict and principled IPS officer who becomes the jail’s superintendent. Jyoti’s disciplined ways clash with Ganga Ram’s entitlement, and she challenges him to pursue his education during his sentence. Provoked by her taunts, Ganga Ram decides to take his tenth-grade exams, seeing it as a way to prove himself and regain his dignity. While Ganga Ram grapples with his studies, his wife, Bimla Devi (Nimrat Kaur), takes over his political responsibilities, enjoying newfound power. She quickly grows into her role, shifting from a submissive homemaker to a commanding politician, relishing the control and authority that come with it. As Ganga Ram perseveres through academic hurdles and personal transformations, he begins to appreciate the value of education and self-improvement. Dasvi blends humor with social commentary, using Ganga Ram’s journey to spotlight the importance of education and second chances. The film explores themes of personal growth, power dynamics, and societal expectations, ultimately celebrating the idea that it’s never too late to learn and change.
